"Dr. Bryant has written a unique and imaginative info-novel that provides both fun and facts for an enjoyable reading experience. He begins and ends his book with a tale about a fictitious tobacco industry figurehead, Joseph K. Hamel, who is suffering from an unknown illness and reluctantly seeks the help of Dr. Borenot.
As the story progresses, we learn more about Joe's struggle to quit smoking, but most importantly there is life-saving information about nicotine, second-hand smoke, quitting smoking, and weight and stress control intertwined throughout the book.
Dr. Bryant entertains his readers with his clever writing style and use of comic editorial cartoons to help readers easily grasp the explanations of addiction and all aspects of smoking. He provides a detailed index for finding specific information, a recommended book section, and a selected bibliography for readers to use other sources.
Know Smoking is recommended reading for both smokers and nonsmokers. It will encourage smokers to think about quitting and give hope to those who want them to quit, all in a non-threatening way.
If you want to laugh and learn at the same time, I would recommend this book and make sure you pass it on to someone you care about. It could help save a life."
